City of Grand Rapids, MN 

The City of Grand Rapids, on the banks of the Mississippi River, 
is located approximately 80 miles northwest of Duluth and 175 miles
north of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. The City serves as the county seat of Itasca County and is situated at the junction of U.S. Highway 169 and 2 and State Highways 38, 6, 46 and 65. The population is 8,233. Grand Rapids is in the heart of Minnesota’s beautiful resort and recreation area. With abundant park and recreation facilities, Itasca County hosts thousands of tourists each year. As a recognized regional center serving a population of approximately 40,000, Grand Rapids enjoys a reputation as one of the top cities in per capita retail sales in the state of Minnesota. Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital 
Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital is one of rural Minnesota's few non-profit, independent, multi-specialty health care facilities.  The clinic and hospital employs nearly 700 employees and 40 physicians, including new specialists in Orthopedics, OB/GYN, and Pediatrics.


UPM  Papermill 
UPM Blandin Paper Company operates a large paper mill in the City and is the City’s largest employer. County, state, national and private forests are located within Itasca County.

Forest History Center -  MN Historical Site 
This Minnesota historical site gives visitors the history of Northern MN forests logging history. Its mission is to: Connect people with the Forest of Northern MN.  It offers a museum, recreated 1900 logging camp, walking trails, CCC camp recreation, Wannigan boat with the logging drives and a Fire Tower. Wonderful family fun while you learn about the vibrant history of the forests. 

 
Children's Discovery Museum  and Judy Garland Museum
The family fun museum showcases unique educational opportunities for children to learn about history, lakes, science, reading and so much more.   Judy Garland, or better known as,  Glumm was born in Grand Rapids and lived her first 4 years signing and dancing here. This special museum highlights her career, showcases her family home and gives you insight into her very colorful life.

St. Joseph's Church
